Aisle Types
Lift trucks are classified due to the kinds of aisles they have been designed to operate in. Wide Aisle and Narrow Aisle lift trucks are designed to turn in the aisle, whilst Very Narrow Aisle trucks actually don't turn in the aisle. There are several aisle widths to take into account with different models.
Very Narrow Aisle trucks could work in less than 6 feet places, whereas several will utilize certain guidance systems such as rail, wire or optical systems in order to travel in the aisles. Several different models of VNA trucks include Turret Trucks, Swing Masts and Order Selectors. These are popular models in tight retail areas and in some storage and warehouse situations.
Narrow Aisle trucks can work in aisles from 8 feet to 10 feet wide. Generally these are stand-up models such as Reach Trucks. They are usually utilized in warehouses and storage facilities.
Wide Aisle Standard forklifts fall into this truck category and are designed to work within aisles that are more than 11 feet wide.
Stand-Up Ergonomics
The stand-up ergonomics include "Ergomat" padding with a sloped floorboard that is made to reduce operator fatigue by absorbing vibration. The compartment for the driver is large and has an 8" low step height that helps lessen overall body fatigue by easing frequent exit and entry. The unit consists of polyurethane steer tires to absorb shocks and vibration caused by uneven floor in order to allow smooth traveling. For additional comfort, there is a floor mat and a cushioned armrest along with a backrest designed to help keep operators comfortable and hence more productive while limiting exhaustion.
