Advance New York
Used Advance New York - Liquid propane cylinders are used on a lot of lift trucks. A few facilities are capable of refuelling their own propane cylinders, however, nearly all will have their cylinders refilled elsewhere and delivered to their place of work instead. When a forklift runs out of fuel, the cylinders are changed. Several cautions and training is needed when dealing with propane as it is a very combustible material.
Instructions
PPE or Personal Protective Equipment, must be worn when refilling or changing a forklift cylinder. The liquid is really cold and can lead to irritation or burning when it comes into contact with skin. Always putting on thick leather gloves will help protect hands. Goggles or several standard eyewear together with a face shield is also very recommended. Having a fire extinguished within the immediate vicinity is also suggested before the refuelling method begins.
Be certain that the surroundings are safe from whatever lit cigarettes or open fires. Look for the fill valve on the cylinder and remove the cover. After that you could attach the fill line to the fill valve. When the fill line is in place, carefully open the bleed valve. This would be a small circular knob on the cylinder that is commonly brass coloured. A hissing sound may escape when the valve is open and this is normal so long as it is just air being vented and not actual propane.
Open the fill valve on the fill line really gradually, listening for whichever leaks around the connection point. Once sure there are no leaks, the valve could then be opened further. The sound of propane entering the tank must be audible. By no means leave the tank unattended whenever refuelling and look at the bleeder valve throughout the method. A spray of white propane gas would emit from the bleeder valve as soon as the tank is full. Turn the fill valve off totally and afterward close the bleeder valve. Very unhurriedly and carefully take out the fill line from the tank. Watch for whichever extra gas caught in the coupling which would be expelled when the seal is broken. It should only be a small quantity of gas and is normal. Put back the protective cap on the fill valve. Double check all valves are fully closed. The tank is now set and full to use.
