Manitou Aerial Lifts
There are some applications that entail a lot more reach than the usual job. For these instances, the ever-growing range of telescopic and articulating booms is a great choice. Electric or engine powered or bi-energy booms are ideal for indoor, rough terrain or outdoor use, so basically, there is a suitable boom lift available for each type of task. Simply take the time to figure out what kind of cargo you would be handling and what kinds of capacities you will require to get the job done.
As aerial work platforms, the articulating booms use many boom sections which articulate or hinge. These machinery offer a maximum reach of 21 feet 5 inches or 6.25 meters to 69 feet 9 inches or 21.26 meters. These models can vary in height between 11.14 meters and 36 feet or 141 feet or 43.15 meters. Usually, articulated boom units are classified by platform height and by horizontal reach.
To access work places over barriers and obstacles including equipment or shelving, the articulating booms are often used. They have less horizontal outreach than telescopic booms, but the articulating booms provide better positioning and greater versatility. This enables better access for overhead work areas from aisles and from congested places. Throughout the variety of articulating booms, the majority of them can hold weight capacities of up to 227 kg or 500 pounds. These machines could easily lift 2 operators and their tools and sometimes extra materials.
Similar to scissor lifts, the industrial and rough terrain articulating booms are usually outfitted with non-marking tires and are intended for indoor use. Most of articulated boom manufacturers use clean burning fuels such as LPG or liquid propane gas or DC electric power for their industrial units. AC drive system technology is common in industrial forklifts, although it is new to the market of aerial work platforms. This technology combines 3-phase AC drive motors with DC batteries for more drive speed and braking, continuous control of turning and overall energy efficient operation.
Rough-terrain models are particularly engineered to negotiate rugged construction site locations. With features such as diesel engines, lug-tread tires, an oscillating axle and 4-wheel drive, these specialized items are common-place on rough-terrain articulating booms. These heavy-duty add-ons are what really make these machinery able to withstand the rough environments they work in.
